Nothing Show is off to The Larmer Tree Fest

April 27, 2011

The Larmer Tree Festival has invited me to perform my clowning show The Nothing Show this July which is really exciting. I’ve not performed at a festival for ages, and Larmer Tree is meant to be a good’un so I am really looking forward to spending a few days performing and hanging out there. Better dig out my tent…

The Baboons Ferment..

April 18, 2011

Just found out that The Hot Air Baboons are going to be part of Bristol Old Vic’s Ferment season in July which is very exciting. Since our last outing at The Cube earlier this year, the collective has been discussing how to move forward with the night. The hope is to have a couple of days in a rehearsal room trying out new ideas and material before the showcase. There may well be a few new but familiar additions to the group too.

More details to follow…

Workshops with Theatre Orchard

April 6, 2011

I am very excited to be working with the  Theatre Orchard Project over the summer on a number of workshops with young people culminating in a performance in August down in Weston-super-Mare. Below are a few pics from their last show  Bianca Rosa & The Seven Robbers performed by the Bournville Community Theatre Group. Click here to see more pics from that show.

Baboons get their first review!

February 10, 2011

Some lovely comments from Rina who writes for Venue about the Hot Air Baboons night at The Cube last month.

Brainchild of Bristol actor Stewart Wright (who lit up the BOV’s recent Swallows & Amazons),The Hot Air Baboons lived up to their name by monkeying about and causing fits of the vapours amongst their audience at The Cube.  Babooning is brave stuff that calls for a curious blend of humility and daring.. . It’s something of a tightrope act, but because all five are seasoned improvisers who know how to be responsive to each other in a democratic way, almost everything they tried out came off and left us wanting more.”

The Baboons are John Nicholson, Stewart Wright, Angus Barr, Becky Illsley and Frances Merriman.

Nothing Show is a knock out at Bradon Forest

January 26, 2011

Just received a lovely review about the Nothing Show, my one-man clown show that I performed at Bradon Forest Theatre last Friday. I had a great time working with the students at the school there on a pre-show workshop using some of the ideas and themes of the piece which went really well.
